What Nami actually is
Nami is a half-moon island in the Bukhangang River near Gapyeong that declared itself the 'Naminara Republic' — your ticket is a ₩19,000 'visa' (₩16,000 for teens and over-70s), and it covers the round-trip ferry, about 5 minutes each way. The alternative entrance is the Skyline zip wire: ₩55,000 for a roughly 940 m ride from the mainland straight onto the island, with Nami admission and the ferry back included — the most memorable way to arrive if you don't mind paying for it.
On the island you're there for the tree lanes — the metasequoia and ginkgo avenues that Winter Sonata made famous — plus bike rentals (₩5,000 per 30 minutes), resident peacocks and a lot of picnic lawn. It's lovely and it's done in 1.5–2 hours. That's why every sane itinerary bolts on a second stop: the Garden of Morning Calm (about 30 minutes away by road), Alpaca World, the Gangchon rail bike, or Petite France & Italian Village, the Little Prince and Pinocchio theme villages nearby.

It all works; you'll just spend nearly as long in transit as on the island.
A combo tour solves all of it: central Seoul pickup in the morning, two or three stops, back the same evening, admissions usually bundled.
